Jess L. Morgan named Digby Family Law, PLC Partner

Digby Family Law, PLC is excited to announce that Jess L. Morgan has been promoted to partner!

“When I first started working with Sarah Reist Digby in 2016, I was excited for the opportunity to learn firsthand the ins and outs of domestic law.  But I had no idea how grateful I would be for the team we would surround ourselves with over the years.  From our clients to support staff and attorneys, DFL truly is a family, and the mentorship and support I have received from them over the years is what has made this possible.  I am so proud to be recognized as a partner and I am excited to continue to serve our clients in this new role.”

Jess began working for Sarah Reist Digby in 2016 as a summer legal intern.  During this summer, Jess received first-hand experience working on family law cases shadowing Sarah in meetings, mediations, and court appearances.  Jess often showed up early and stayed late, going the extra mile to learn more about the practice of law.

Jess returned to DFL as a legal intern in the spring of 2017 while finishing her 3L year.  Jess took a brief hiatus to study for the July 2017 Bar Exam, and returned in August of 2017 as a legal assistant while awaiting her bar exam results.  At the time, DFL was not looking to hire a new associate, but DFL quickly came to rely on Jess’s impressive research and drafting abilities and her unique insight.  It did not take long for the firm to realize that it would be an incredible loss for Jess to seek alternate employment.  As soon as Jess passed the bar exam in October 2017, DFL was thrilled to formally add her as a permanent member of the team.

Jess continued to work through the ranks of junior associate, associate, and senior associate, taking a particular interest in Adoptions, Same-sex Divorce and Custody matters, and Alternative Dispute Resolution.

“I am most proud of the fact that over the years, I have worked nearly every position we have had at DFL in some capacity, including even some made-up positions such as the IT Department.  Seeing this organization grow from the ground up is truly a unique experience and getting to work with the most outstanding attorneys I know is what I’m most grateful for.”

Jess’ practice will continue to focus on family law matters such as divorce, adoption, child custody, child support, and enforcement matters.  Jess was named as one of the Top 10 Family Law Attorneys Under 40 in Tennessee in 2021 and 2022 by the National Academy of Family Law Attorneys; a 2022 Mid-South Rising Star by Super Lawyers; and among the Top 10 Female Attorneys in Tennessee Family Law by the American Associate of Attorney Advocates in 2023.  Jess is also a recipient of the 2021 Avvo Client’s Choice Award.

Jess received her Bachelor of Business in Music Business from Belmont University in 2014 and her Juris Doctorate and a Certificate in Entertainment Law from Belmont University College of Law in 2017.  Jess is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio where her large, supportive extended family resides.  In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two rescue dogs, learning new recipes, and traveling.
